Travel to New Zealand from India is temporarily suspended.

This measure was prompted by the high number of arrivals with COVID-19 from India, to reduce the risk for travellers and protect the health of those already in New Zealand.

The suspension of entry applies to all who have been in India in the previous 14 days, including New Zealand citizens and residents.

It does not apply to travellers who had left India at the time of the Prime Minister’s announcement on 8 April 2021.

There are no plans to cancel any visas. Travellers should be able to use their valid visas in future once the suspension lifts.

During this suspension, in place until Wednesday 28 April 2021, the Government will investigate options to better manage risk from international travel.
