Parent Category EOI draw update
Immigration New Zealand (INZ) acknowledges that the closing date for the August Parent Category EOI ballot was not communicated clearly in recent correspondence, and we apologise for any confusion this may have caused.
INZ acknowledges that the closing date for the August Parent Category expression of interest (EOI) ballot was not communicated clearly in recent correspondence, and we apologise for any confusion this may have caused.
To ensure fairness to everyone who has already submitted their EOI for the August selection, we will be proceeding with the draw on Tuesday, 8 August of 1,100 EOIs from the queue of existing EOIs, and 200 from the randomised ballot.
Additional ballot draw for September
So that everyone has a fair chance of being selected, we will hold an additional draw of 100 EOIs from the ballot in September. The additional draw will not adversely affect anyone who has already submitted their EOI for the August ballot draw as their EOI will also have a chance of selection in the additional September draw.
If you want to have your EOI considered for the September draw, you must submit your EOI by 31 August 2023. Any EOIs submitted after this date will be considered for the November draw.
EOI process
- Your EOI needs to be submitted in the month before a draw is taking place.
- Once EOIs are selected they go through a checking process. If yours is selected you will either be invited to apply for residence or advised if your EOI will be declined.
- We do not contact anyone whose EOI is not selected. EOIs in the pool we did not select stay in the pool until they are drawn or expire (2 years after they were submitted).
- A person can only be included in one EOI in the ballot pool. If your EOI in the ballot pool includes someone in another ballot pool EOI it is removed from the pool (and you will be notified).
- Ballot draws are planned for every 3 months (August, November, February and May).
Where to get EOI process updates
We do not send information to everyone in the ballot pool prior to a draw.
