New occupations to be added as skill level exceptions — Appendix 7 Wednesday, 15 July 2020

Appendix 7 is a list of occupations that can be treated as an exception to certain skill level assessments and will be updated on 27 July 2020.

We are updating the list of occupations that can be treated as an exception to certain skill level assessments for SMC applications. This list of occupations is provided in Appendix 7 of the Immigration New Zealand Operational Manual.

The following occupations will be added from 27 July 2020:

  • aged or disabled carer
  • bicycle mechanic
  • driller
  • nursing support worker.

Workers who have already applied for a visa

If your occupation is going to be added to Appendix 7, but you have already applied for a Skilled Migrant Category residence visa, or an Essential Skills work visa, your application cannot be assessed using the skill level exception.

Your application will be assessed against the immigration instructions in place when you applied.

If your application is declined, you have the choice to lodge a further expression of interest, and if invited to apply, then your application would be considered against the instructions in place when you apply.
