Internet scam encouraging doctors to apply for non-existent hospital Wednesday, 3 May 2017

Immigration NZ is aware of an internet scam inviting doctors to apply under the Skilled Migrant category for roles at a hospital which does not exist.

The recruitment drive for the hospital uses fraudulent documents in the name of MBIE’s Chief Executive, and INZ approval letters supposedly signed by the Minister of Immigration.

Additionally a New Zealand lawyer’s identity is being used by the scammers in an attempt to legitimise the fraudulent activity and encourage them to hand over fees. The lawyer in question has no knowledge of or involvement in this scheme at all.

Any person receiving documentation from St Vincent Ranui Hospital, Wellington, or the lawyer regarding the hospital, should be aware that this is a scam and should not pay any fees or costs.
