Changes for Residence applications processed in Bangkok Friday, 28 July 2017

From 1 September 2017, some family residence applications, which are currently lodged at the Bangkok Visa Application Centre (VAC), will be processed in Auckland, New Zealand.

The affected family residence applications are:

  • Partner of a New Zealander Resident Visa
  • Parent Resident Visa
  • Dependent Child Resident Visa

The change does not affect Parent Retirement Category residence visa applications, which should continue to be sent to INZ’s Business Migration Branch.

Instead of sending applications to the Bangkok VAC, applications should be sent to INZ at the following addresses:

We recommend that you use a reputable international mail service when sending us your application and that you make a copy of your application before you send it to us.

Family Residence applications will be processed at our Manukau Area Office. Applications represented by a Licensed Immigration Advisor/lawyer will be processed at Henderson Area Office.

Applications processed in New Zealand will be charged in New Zealand dollars and you will need to make your payment by credit card. Note that our online fees calculator will show the fee in Thai baht and US dollars for Bangkok applications until 1 September 2017.

If you send your application to the Bangkok VAC before this date but it arrives after 1 September, we will still lodge your application. If you expect your application to arrive after 1 September then you should send it directly to New Zealand. Please send a certified copy of your passport (biographical page only) and birth certificate and for any other people included in your application.

If you are notified by Immigration New Zealand that your residence application has been approved, you can submit your passport (and the passports of the people included in your application) to your nearest VAC and they will arrange for a label to be placed in your passport. You will not need to send your passport to New Zealand to receive your visa label. You will need to pay a fee at your nearest VAC for this service.
