Government targets

We’re a society of ‘ideas’ people in New Zealand. We’re well known for both our ability to generate original ideas and quickly adapt to new technologies. Our new technology companies have a reputation for developing bold new products . Our companies are small by international standards but they have the potential to grow quickly and succeed.

What they’re looking for is venture capital, good strategic thinking, and global networks.

The New Zealand Government is targeting three sectors of the economy for growth – biotechnology, information and communication technology, and creative industries. These targets are based on its Growth Through Innovation strategy.

These sectors have the potential to make a vital contribution to our future economic growth. Already there are many highly successful enterprises in all three sectors. They’ve been identified as our most exciting, innovative industries and have the potential to establish strong competitive advantages. They are emerging global industries for the 21st century.

So that means the returns on investment will be substantial – especially with strong Government support. And you’ll get support in establishing a business in any of these areas.

There are other fast growing industries in New Zealand. These include niche manufacturing, education, food and beverages, wine production, building and construction, call centre management and wood processing.

These are business sectors where there is known potential for excellent returns and sustained growth. Your new business could become a global success. Your investment could help our talented entrepreneurs change the world.
