H7.10 Making an application for a variation of conditions (to 31/07/2022)

  1. An application for a variation of conditions under these instructions must be made by submitting the following to an immigration officer:
    1. a completed form, approved for this purpose and available on the Immigration New Zealand website; and
    2. the prescribed fee; and
    3. the documentation and evidence required to demonstrate that the person has been nominated by an authorised government organisation or departmental agency to travel overseas for one of the following reasons of national significance:
      • to protect the safety and security of New Zealand’s right to govern itself; or
      • for Government-approved humanitarian efforts as part of New Zealand’s commitments to foreign aid, international disaster responses, or supporting Pacific and Realm countries’ recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic; or
      • to participate in major international events where travel is necessary to represent New Zealand; or
      • for nationally significant trade negotiations.
  2. Partners and dependent children of a person travelling overseas on nationally significant grounds are not eligible for inclusion in a request for a variation of conditions, or for a visa or variation of conditions on the basis of their relationship to a person travelling overseas on nationally significant grounds.
