Does New Zealand have a retirement visa for people 56 and over?

No, New Zealand does not have a retirement visa.  If you are aged 56 years or older and do not have close family already resident in New Zealand, then you may want to take a look the options under our Long Term Business/Entrepreneur or Investor categories.

However, you can apply for a visitor’s permit.  Many retired Americans spend six months a year in New Zealand on a visitor’s permit and then spend the other six months of the year back in the US or in a third country.
