We want to make it as easy as possible for you to come and work in New Zealand. If your teaching qualification was gained overseas, it’s likely it will be recognised in New Zealand.
Teachers working in New Zealand need a Graduate Diploma in Teaching, a Bachelor of Education in Teaching, or an equivalent overseas qualification. Your teaching qualifications must be assessed by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).
For this to happen, you will need to provide original documents so your qualifications can be authenticated. There is a fee for this assessment and the process usually takes about six weeks.
