If you want to work in the ICT industry in New Zealand, you’ll probably need a degree level qualification majoring in electronics, computer or information science, or telecommunications, and certainly some work experience in these areas. Check the Long Term Shortage Skill List – if you have the right qualifications and work experience, you may be eligible for extra points under the Skilled Migrant category. And because ICT is identified as a future growth area under the Skilled Migrant category, you may get bonus points if you have employment or an offer of employment in the sector.
You’re entitled to points under the Skilled Migrant Category if you have a recognised basic or postgraduate qualification. The points you can gain will depend on what level your qualification occupies on the New Zealand Register of Quality Assured Qualifications.
Check if your qualification(s) is included in the List of Qualifications Exempt from Assessment, or the List of Qualifications Recognised as an Exception, and if there are any additional requirements that you need to meet. We also accept qualifications that the New Zealand Qualifications Authority considers equivalent to an acceptable New Zealand qualification.
