Auckland is a multicultural and vibrant city and New Zealand’s largest with well over one million residents. Its size makes it the commercial and manufacturing hub of New Zealand and many New Zealand corporates now have their head offices here. Technology, biotechnology, marine, film/TV production, food and beverage and engineering are the major industries in the region.

 

Flanked by two harbours and with numerous islands in the near vicinity, its known as the City of Sails. Auckland is the world’s largest Polynesian city. Around 62% of its residents are of European descent, 12% are Māori, 11% are of Pacific Island descent and there is a growing Asian population of around 9%.

 

Auckland was recently ranked the eighth best city in the world to live in, according to the Mercer Survey based on quality of living.
