The Wellington Dragon Boat Festival is one of many internationally recognised regattas and is held in high regard next to those in New York, Beijing, Vancouver and Sydney. The weekend features over 80 adult and school teams from around the Wellington region, taking to the harbour with their paddles to become champions. Over 40,000 spectators line the shores to cheer them on and enjoy the festival atmosphere.
