WG5.20 Thai chefs

  1. Work visas may be issued to citizens of Thailand who hold offers of employment as specialist Thai chefs without the need for a labour market check, if they provide evidence of having completed the following qualifications and relevant work experience:
    1. Thailand National Skills Standard Thai Cooking Certificate 1 and five years of practical experience; or
    2. Thailand National Skills Standard Thai Cooking Certificate 2 and four years of practical experience; or
    3. Thailand National Skills Standard Thai Cooking Certificate 3 and three years of practical experience.
  2. Work visas and permits issued and granted under this policy will allow for a stay in New Zealand of up to three years extendable by up to one year, to a maximum total period of four years.
  3. Chefs who spend four years in New Zealand working under this policy are not eligible for a further work visa or work permit under this policy until they have spent a minimum of three years outside New Zealand.
