Instrument of Designation
Pursuant to Section 2(1) of the Immigration Act 1987, I, John Maurice Chetwin, Secretary of Labour, hereby designate:
- All Heads of Mission or Heads of Posts of New Zealand overseas missions or posts within the meaning of the External Relations Act 1988; and
- All members of the staff (including locally engaged staff) of New Zealand overseas missions or posts authorised from time to time by the Head of Mission or Head of Post to exercise consular functions; and
- Those persons employed by the New Zealand Immigration Service whose job title is "visa officer" and who are named in the Schedule of visa officers;
as visa officers under the provisions of the Immigration Act 1987, with effect from 1 October 1999.
