Philippines Special Work Category

The Philippines Special Work Category is for nationals of the Philippines who are qualified as registered nurses, farm managers or engineering professionals.

There are currently places available under this category.

Requirements you must meet

You will need to meet our health and character requirements.

You will also have to show evidence that you have the qualification and/or experience required, and that you meet any other requirements, for one of the following occupations.

Occupation Number of people able to hold a visa at any one time Qualification requirement Other requirement(s)
Registered nurse 100 A qualification which has been assessed as equivalent to a New Zealand Bachelor of Nursing or Diploma in Comprehensive Nursing (diploma or hospital based certificate). New Zealand registration.
Farm manager 20  A qualification and/or work experience relevant to the NZ job offer as a farm manager. The job offer must be assessed as equivalent to ANZSCO Skill Level 1.
Engineering professional 20  A bachelor degree (level 7 or above) qualification and registered on the International Professional Engineers Register or APEC Engineers Register, or a Washington Accord accredited engineering degree.

Requirements your employer must meet

Your New Zealand employer must provide an offer of employment for up to three years in your occupation.

The job offer must be for genuine, sustainable and full-time employment for the duration of the period for which employment is offered, as specified in the proposed employment agreement.

Your employer must have previously complied and will comply in future with all relevant New Zealand employment and immigration law and immigration policy provisions.

If you are approved

If you are approved, you may be granted a work visa for up to three years, depending on the length of your job offer. If you are granted a work visa for less than three years, you may apply for a further visa for the balance of the period, as long as you still meet all the requirements of this category.

If you are granted a visa under this category and later wish to return here, you will need to remain outside of New Zealand for at least three years before you can apply under this category again.

Apply

To be approved under this category you must meet all the requirements. Find out how to apply.
