Steps to apply for a Working Holiday Scheme Work Visa or Permit

Follow these steps if you wish to apply for a work visa or permit under our Working Holiday Scheme policy.

Step 1:

Complete the form Application for a New Zealand Working Holiday (NZIS 1085) PDF. Download here or pick up from your nearest Immigration New Zealand branch.

Step 2:

Along with your completed (and signed) application form you will need to provide:

  • details of your arrangements to leave New Zealand after your permit expires
  • evidence to show you meet the specific requirements of your country’s working holiday scheme
  • a recent passport size photograph
  • a valid passport or travel document
  • the application fee.

We may ask you to supply other information or evidence. There may be additional requirements you must meet depending on the country from which you are applying.

Step 3:

Supply medical certificates (where required).

Step 4:

Send your completed application and fee to an Immigration New Zealand branch.

Applicants applying under the France Working Holiday Scheme must send their application to the New Zealand Embassy in Paris. Applicants for all other Working Holiday Scheme countries can send their applications to their nearest Immigration New Zealand branch or receiving office, either in New Zealand or overseas. Use our Office and Fees finder to find out where to send your application and the fee you'll need to pay.
