About the Skilled Migrant Category

What are visas and permits?

The goal of applying under the Skilled Migrant Category is a residence visa or permit. You need a visa if you are not yet in the country. You need a permit if you are already legally in the country, through having another kind of permit.

For more information, learn about applying, or go straight to the application process.

What about my partner or children?

Your partner and dependent children may be included in your Expression of Interest, and, if you are invited to do so, your application for residence. If we grant you residence, it extends to your partner and children. They must also meet our health, character, and English language requirements.

If you use the paper Expression of Interest form and want to include your children, you will also need an additional Expression of Interest form – Child Supplement (NZIS 1103) PDF for each dependant on the form.

Where do I send my Expression of Interest form?

Submit the online form, or send the completed paper form and required fee to:

Do I need to send any documents with my EOI?

Please do not. We will ask for them when we send you your invitation to apply. If we need any documents at any other stage, we will ask you for them specifically.
