Can I apply under the Skilled Migrant Category?

Doing accounts.

Expression of Interest

To apply under the Skilled Migrant Category, you must show us you have the potential to contribute, by submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI). On the EOI, you’ll get points for certain factors, including your qualifications, whether you have a job (or one waiting for you), and previous work experience.

Requirements

We have some requirements you must meet to apply under this category. There are also several areas of ability and expertise with which you can show us that you would be a suitable migrant.

Claiming points on your EOI

Once you are sure you meet our requirements, you can look into how many points you will be able to claim. You will get points for such factors as skilled employment, work experience, qualifications, and your age.

Quickcheck

Our quickcheck can give you an idea whether you could submit an Expression of Interest that is likely to be selected from the pool. Here you can see how many points you might get and see a diagram of the full process.

Sample applicants

To give you an idea of whether you can apply, and how you can get points, we have some examples of prospective applicants. We also have some restrictions that prevent some people from applying.

Applying for Residence

If you meet the EOI selection criteria, you’ll be invited to apply for residence. You will need to complete the application form we send to you, provide us with evidence that your claims are legitimate, and pay a fee.
