Canterbury’s burgeoning economy has resulted in a growth in the region’s workforce. Since June 1998, 33% of the jobs created in New Zealand have come out of Canterbury. This has seen the creation of 54,700 new jobs, representing an increase of 24% in the labour market – more than any other New Zealand region.
The fusion of entrepreneurial talent and the quality of life the region offers has fostered the development of a growing cluster of dynamic high technology companies in the city.
