Do you require a visitor visa?

If you answer 'Yes' to any of the following questions, you do not need a visitor visa. If you answer 'No' to all of the questions, you will have to apply for a visitor visa.

Are you a New Zealand or Australian citizen?
Are you a New Zealand resident with a returning resident visa?
Do you have a current Australian permanent residence visa or a current Australian resident return visa?
Are you:
- a person who has been given a special direction
- a diplomat or do you carry out certain roles in a consular office (see section A3.5 of our Operational Manual)
- part of the military personnel at Black Birch Astrometric Observatory
- a cruise ship passenger who meets certain time and destination requirements
- an aircraft crew member on any commercial aircraft flying between any other country and New Zealand, for 7 days beginning with the day on which the aircraft arrived in New Zealand, or
- a member of any scientific programme or expedition carried out under Operation Deep Freeze?

Are you from a visa-free country, and intending to visit for no more than your allotted time of three months (or six months if you are from the United Kingdom)?
