Minimum income requirement

If you have dependent children, you or your partner will need to show us that you meet a minimum income requirement. We need to know you can support yourself and your dependents if you come to New Zealand.

The gross minimum income requirement is $29,939.52. This is based on the Unemployment Benefit (married and civil union rate) plus the maximum Accommodation Supplement (as set by the New Zealand Government).  The minimum income requirement must be derived from an acceptable offer of employment.

If you and your partner both have job offers, both incomes may count toward meeting the minimum income requirement. Both job offers must meet all the requirements, for offers of employment, except that only one has to be full time.

For applicants without dependent children, your wage or salary must for be no less than the minimum wage under New Zealand employment law.

Evidence of minimum income

Acceptable evidence that you’ll meet our minimum income requirement includes original or certified copies of a job offer with salary or wages equal to or higher than the minimum income requirement.
