Restricted or prohibited goods

New Zealand is free of many of the world’s serious agricultural pests and diseases.

However, pests and diseases can be brought into New Zealand in your baggage and this poses a serious threat to our economy.

It’s advisable not to bring any food, animals or animal products, plants or parts of plants with you. Not all of these are prohibited, but all pose a potential risk. Some items are strictly prohibited.
