English and Maori are the two official languages of New Zealand. There are numerous Maori words that New Zealanders now use in their everyday speech, including Hongi – pressing of noses used in formal Maori welcome ceremonies.

Can I sponsor my brother, sister or adult child?

You can bring your brother, sister or adult child to New Zealand, if you are an eligible sponsor and your brother, sister or adult child meets the requirements for residence under the Family Category (Sibling/Adult Child Policy).

To be eligible your brother, sister or adult child must have

 

  • have no other siblings or parents who are living lawfully and permanently in the same country in which they are living lawfully and permanently

 

To sponsor your brother, sister or adult child you must

 

 

To be eligible for residence your brother, sister or adult child must
complete an Application for Residence in New Zealand form (NZIS 1000) PDF and meet all requirements of good health, good character and supply evidence of their relationship to you, and of where any other immediate family are living. Your brother/sister or adult child must also have an offer of employment and meet a minimum level of income.
