You need to meet a number of requirements to have your residence application approved under the Family Category (Sibling/Adult Child Policy).
You must
- have no other siblings or parents who are living lawfully and permanently in the same country in which you are living lawfully and permanently.
- be aged 55 years or younger at the time the application is lodged.
- be in good health
- be of good character
- be sponsored by your adult brother, adult sister or parent in New Zealand who is eligible to sponsor you.
Note: In the context of this policy, an ‘adult child’ means a child of 17 or older unless they are dependent .

What about my partner and children?
Your partner and any dependent children can be included in your application for residence.
To be approved residence you and your partner must meet our partnership requirements and your partner and any dependent children must meet health and character requirements.
And, you might need to meet English language requirements
If you were eligible to be included as a dependent child of a principal applicant in an earlier successful application in General Skills, Skilled Migrant, Business Immigrant or Business Investor, but were not at the time included in the application, you will have to meet the requirements of the English Language policy applying at the time the application under Family Category is made.
