Steps to apply for a Long Term Business Visa or Permit

Follow these steps if you wish to apply for a Long Term Business Visa or Permit.

To help you make sure you have everything you need to apply, please print out our checklist.

 

Step 1

Complete the Application for Long Term Business Visa and Permit (NZIS 1058) PDF form available from Immigration New Zealand offices in New Zealand and overseas.

 

Step 2

Along with your completed (and signed) application form you will need to provide:

 

• a satisfactory business plan and supporting documents
• proof that you have enough money aside from investment funds to support yourself and any partner or children coming with you
• evidence you meet our English language requirements
• evidence that you and your partner (if included in your application) meet our partnership requirements
• the application fee

 

Step 3

For each person included in your application you will also need to provide:

 

• two recent passport size photographs
• a valid passport or certificate of identity
• a completed Medical and X-ray Certificate (NZIS 1007) PDF (Note: Pregnant women and children under the age of 11 years are not required to submit X-ray certificates unless a special report is required. For full details on health requirements, see our Health Requirements Leaflet (NZIS 1121) PDF)
• a police certificate less than 6 months old for each applicant aged 17-years and over
• a full birth certificate – for each dependent child
  
  

Step 4

If you are overseas, your application must be sent before you travel to New Zealand. Find out where to send your application.

If you are in New Zealand, your application must be sent to your nearest Immigration New Zealand branch.

 

Already in New Zealand on a Long Term Business Permit?

You can also use the application form to:

 

• apply for a further visa or permit
• apply for consent to change your business proposal.
