I’m unable to leave New Zealand before my student visa expires.  What do I do?

If you're eligible for another visa, you should apply for it well before your current student visa expires.

If you're not eligible for another visa (either a further student visa or another type of visa), the first thing you should do is contact us.  We’ll consider the reasons why you're unable to leave. If we believe the reasons are genuine, we may grant you a short visa. The important thing is to contact us before your visa expires.
