I want to work while I’m studying

Your student visa allows you a limited opportunity to undertake work during your stay in New Zealand.  You may apply for a variation of conditions to work if:

  • you need to work to fulfil practical course requirements
    or
  • you want to work part time (up to 20 hours/week) during the academic year and you're an eligible student
    or
  • you want to work full time over the Christmas-New Year holidays and you're an eligible student.

Find out more about our requirements for working while on a student visa.
