Rates of pay

Used only as a guide, as the amount of pay usually depends on your employment agreement, your experience and qualifications, and your employer's employment policies. There are also significant regional differences in average earnings.

In New Zealand you are entitled to at least the minimum wage as set by law if you are 16 years of age or older. Employment agreements cannot offer a wage less than the minimum rate. Trainees undergoing recognised industry training while at work must be paid at least the minimum youth rate regardless of their age.
