Some New Zealand banks allow you to open an account from your home country and may have migrant banking teams and staff who can speak other languages. Contact banks directly to find out more about these services. The Reserve Bank has a list of registered banks in New Zealand.
Remember to bring your credit card, travellers' cheques and some New Zealand dollars in mixed denominations, for example $5, $10 and $20 notes ($50 and $100 notes are unusual) or other convertible currentcy. Cash over NZ$10,000 must be declared when you enter New Zealand.
