Cats and dogs can be imported into New Zealand if they have a current Import Health Standard. Few other domestic pets can be imported. Depending on which country your cat of dog is coming from, you need to prepare at least six months before you leave. Pet transport companies may make it easier to prepare you cat or dog for import.
