NZ Standard Classification of Occupations

The list of occupations which may be considered skilled employment under SM7.10.1(b) of the Skilled Migrant Category refers to the New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations and includes:

 

All occupations in:

  • Major Group 1 (Legislators, administrators and managers)
  • Major Group 2 (Professionals)
  • Major Group 7 (Trades workers)

Some occupations in:

  • Major Group 3 (Technicians and Associate Professionals)
  • Major Group 5 (Service and Sales Workers)
  • Major Group 6 (Agriculture and Fishery Workers)
  • Major Group 8 (Plant and Machine Operators and Assemblers)

The list of occupations in these major groups which are considered skilled employment for the purposes of the Skilled Migrant Category can be found at Appendix 6 of the Immigration Operational Manual.
