Changes to Transitioning to Recognised Seasonal Employer Policy

Friday, February 22, 2008
The Transitioning to Recognised Seasonal Employer (TRSE) policy was put in place in November 2007 to assist employers in the horticulture and viticulture industries that were not yet ready to apply for full Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) status.

Previously workers applying under this policy were only able to work for one employer.  However on 12 February 2008 changes were made to this policy to allow workers to move between TRSE approved in principle employers.  From now on:

  • workers will not have to provide an employment agreement from a TRSE approved in principle employer when applying for a TRSE work permit
  • workers are able to work for any employer with a current TRSE approval in principle
  • all TRSE work permits will be granted for a period of four months
  • employers will have responsibility to ensure that they do not exceed the number of TRSE workers they have been approved for.

For more information, see the TRSE Pages for workers and employers.
