Change to receiving offices

Friday, 13 July 2012
The process for submitting New Zealand visa applications in the Pacific is changing.

Immigration New Zealand is implementing the use of Visa Application Centres (VACs) in the region. These VACs complete administrative tasks on behalf of Immigration New Zealand. They cannot give immigration advice or influence the outcome of an application. All applications will be assessed and decided by Immigration New Zealand.

There will be seven VACs in the Pacific region. Once operational, customers should submit their applications to the relevant VAC. Note that there is no change for customers in Samoa and Tonga. They will continue to submit their applications to INZ in Apia and Nuku’alofa respectively.

VAC locations and proposed ‘go live’ dates are as follows:

VAC Location Operational date
Suva, Fiji 16 July 2012
Lautoka, Fiji 16 July 2012
Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea 31 July 2012
Tarawa, Kiribati 14 August 2012
Port Vila, Vanuatu 28 August 2012
Honiara, Solomon Islands 11 September 2012
Noumea, New Caledonia 21 September 2012

To see if your receiving office has changed and to find VAC addresses, contact details and opening hours please visit the Office and Fee finder on the Immigration New Zealand website.

Questions and answers

Will processing times be affected?

The tasks undertaken by the VACs will enable Immigration Officers to concentrate on processing applications.

The new process will improve the processing timeliness offered by Immigration New Zealand in the Pacific region.

How can I get in touch with my immigration officer?

We will provide you with your immigration officer’s direct dial number and/or email address when we acknowledge your application. You can also contact the relevant VAC for information.
Will application fees change?

There is no direct increase in application fees. A VAC fee of $NZ29 per application ($NZ14 for each person applying for a RSE work visas) will apply. Only one fee is payable per application no matter how many applicants are included.
