More on policy changes due to become effective 26 November 2007

Tuesday, 27 November 2007
As advised yesterday, changes to Skilled Migrant Category which were due to become effective on 26 November 2007 have been revoked, and deferred until 4 February 2008. Some modifications have been made to the policy that will become effective in February (see Amendment Circular 2007/21 below, for the details).

We have deferred the changes to the Skilled Migrant Category because we need more time to implement the required technical changes to our systems. We aim to complete this work before February 2008. We will try to contact everyone whose application or expression of interest may be directly affected by the deferral.

We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused.

All of the other changes to residence and temporary entry policy which were due to become effective on 26 November are now effective. These include:

All of the policy details are in our Operational Manual. Although our online Operational Manual is currently unavailable, and will be reinstated later this week, the manual is available in PDF format – see the Operational Manual pages for instructions on downloading these files.

See also Amendment Circular 2007-21 PDF, which contains the details of the revocation, deferral, and modifications to Skilled Migrant Category policy.
