Interim visa approval letters delays

Friday, 23 December 2011
Over the holiday period, there may be some delays in interim visa approval letters being sent to some people. However, any delays will only affect the sending of letters, not the actual grant of interim visas.

Interim visas will be granted to eligible people as usual. Most approval emails or letters will also be sent as usual, without any delay.

You may be affected by this delay if you have applied for a new visitor, work or student visa, and your current visa expires between 24 December 2011 and 4 January 2012.

If you believe that you have been granted an interim visa during the holiday period, but have not received any email or letter confirming this, please call the Immigration Contact Centre for more information on:

  • 0508 55 88 55 – for people calling from across New Zealand, outside of Auckland
  • 09 914 4100 – for people calling from within Auckland

For more information on interim visas please see our Frequently Asked Questions.
