Information for medical professionals

Immigration New Zealand relies on medical professionals across the world to provide information about potential migrants' standard of health. This information is collected in a medical examination and documented on an immigration medical certificate.

Panel doctors

We have a list of panel doctors and radiologists whom we have appointed to perform medical examinations on our behalf, in certain countries. In countries where there are no panel doctors, a registered or board certified or licensed medical practitioner or physician may complete the examination.

To find out about how to become an Immigration New Zealand panel doctor, contact your nearest branch.

Handbook for Medical Examiners

The Handbook for Medical Examiners is a guide for panel doctors and medical examiners to completing the Medical and Chest X-Ray Certificate (NZIS 1007). A number of documents that accompany the handbook are also available.

Forms and guides

The forms and guides that Medical Examiners may need are all available here.

Translations of the Medical & Chest X-Ray Certificate - Applicant's Notes (NZIS 1133) are also available:
