Steering Group

The research is guided by a cross-departmental Steering Group.

Responsibilities of the Steering Group are to:

 

  • Provide programme oversight
  • Be a reference body for programme management
  • Provide a forum for determination of policies and priorities
  • Help determine the research agenda and guide research
  • Monitor and evaluate research in progress
  • Determine the final shape of the programme.

 

The membership of the Steering Group is:

Expert Group

A group of experts in immigration and economic research from New Zealand and overseas, has been established to contribute high level input to the Programme on substantive and methodological matters. Group members will provide guidance on the scope of the research to be carried out in the Programme, review research proposals, subsequent progress and research outputs.


The Expert Group will come together at least once a year to review the research programme. This meeting will provide the opportunity for colloquia and workshops to be held that will bring together interested stakeholders and experts in the fields of immigration and economic research.

 

Members of the Expert Group are:

  • Professor Jacques Poot – Director, Population Studies Centre, University of Waikato (Convenor)
  • Dr. Deborah Cobb-Clark – Australian National University, Australia
  • Professor George Borjas – Harvard University, USA. 


Working Groups

Working Groups will be established to assist the Programme on the individual research subjects being researched in the Programme. These groups will be established when the discrete research areas and research priorities have been agreed by the Steering Group.

The Working Groups will:

 

  • provide input to specific areas of research 
  • provide oversight of specific research projects 
  • be a sounding board on project matters and issues 
  • provide quality assurance for project work.
