We have a number of requirements employers need to meet if they’re making an offer of employment to an overseas worker to fill a vacancy in a priority occupation in New Zealand.
Firstly, it must be a genuine offer of employment.
Secondly, the offer must be for full time employment:
- in New Zealand
- for a period of at least two years.
The employer’s offer must be current at the time we consider the prospective employee’s application for a work visa or permit. And it must meet the requirements of New Zealand employment laws.
If the position involves an occupation that requires registration in New Zealand, we’ll also want to see evidence that the prospective employee has occupational registration here. This can be full or provisional occupational registration, depending on the occupation.
