If students from overseas fail to meet our conditions of studying in New Zealand we may revoke - take back - their Student Permit. We’ll do this if a student:
- fails to attend their course
- undertakes employment outside our restrictions. Find out what work students can undertake while here studying
- stops attending the course for which they were granted the permit and enrol in one we’ve not approved. They may be able to change courses once they’re here but they must first contact us so that we can either change their permit conditions or consider their application for a new Student Permit. Want to know more about changing courses or providers?
- receives NZAID funding and that funding stops
- is required to live with a guardian and the guardian's Visitor's Permit is revoked.
Once a student’s permit is revoked they’ll no longer be living lawfully in New Zealand and will have to leave.
