Processing times

Ho Chi Minh City Branch processes applications for temporary visas only – visitor, student, work and transit. Residence applications must be lodged with Bangkok Branch.

Note: You should allow a minimum of three weeks for your visa application to be processed. This is a guide only, and the actual processing time of your application could be shorter or longer than this.

The actual processing time will depend on a number of factors, including:

  • The quality, quantity and strength of the information you provide at the time you lodge your application
  • The complexity and circumstances of your individual application
  • The volume of work on hand in the branch at the time.

Some applications take significantly longer. Examples of these include (but are not limited to) partnership applications requiring an interview, applications where a health problem is detected, or applications where further information or enquiries are needed.

You can contribute to a shorter processing time by preparing your application well.  Submitting good quality information, including all the documents requested on our application checklists at the time you lodge your application, will greatly assist us.

Our peak processing seasons are between December and March and between June and July, which precede the start of the New Zealand school semesters. During these months, processing times can take longer than stated above. We encourage you to lodge your visa applications with us as early as possible, especially during these times.
