Christmas and New Year holiday closures
Tuesday, 15 December 2009
Welcome to Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city and commonly known as the ‘City of Sails’.
The Auckland region receives a huge number of applications each year. We have three branches in the region – Manukau, Henderson, and Auckland Central.
You may not have to come to the branch to lodge your application. Make sure that you read the information below and submit your application to the right place, so that we can process your application as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
Lodgement of temporary permit and visa applications
Do not queue at an Immigration New Zealand branch in Auckland if you want to apply for a visitor, work or student permit/visa.
Applications for visitor, student and work permits and visas must be:
- lodged by mail to P.O. BOX 76895, Auckland Mail Centre, Auckland, or
- submitted at the drop boxes in our Henderson, Manukau, or Auckland Central branches.
For further information on lodgement requirements for temporary permits and visas, take a look at our checklist information sheets. For more on submitting applications or contacting us, see our contact details.
Work permits (based on job offers)
For further information about work visas or permits, including labour market tests, see work permit (essential skills).
General immigration enquiries
Auckland region branches do not provide a general enquiry service. For advice and assistance on immigration matters, call our National Contact Centre on 09 914 4100 (within the Auckland area), or 0508 55 88 55 (toll free service outside the Auckland area). Or, you can take a look at our online help service – it has a number of frequently asked questions that you can search.
Branch counter services
Auckland region branches will process some types of application for you in one day if you go to the branch without an appointment. This same day counter service is only available for applications for:
- returning resident’s visas
- confirmations of permit conditions
- replacement labels (transfer of returning resident’s visa from old passports into new passports, correction of data entry errors)
- urgent travel (within seven days) – evidence of travel is required.
For branch addresses, contact details, opening hours and more on where to lodge applications, go to the contact details page.
