Welcome to the New Zealand Commerce and Industry Office - Taipei

The New Zealand Commerce and Industry Office manages New Zealand's relations with Taiwan in the absence of full diplomatic relations between Taiwan and New Zealand.

New Zealand's one China policy allows it to fully develop its trade, economic and cultural interests with Taiwan. The pursuit and development of these interests is the responsibility of the New Zealand Commerce and Industry Office. The office is New Zealand’s interface with the Government and people of Taiwan.

The Office is a subsidiary of the Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce and is staffed by a number of officers either employed directly by NZCIO or seconded from relevant New Zealand departments and agencies. At present 26 people are employed at NZCIO in Taipei.

NZCIO is headed by the Director and comprises four units. The Economic and General Affairs Unit which handles policy issues; the Trade Development Unit which assists New Zealand businesses to trade with Taiwan; the Immigration Unit which issues visas for visitors to New Zealand and which assists persons wanting to migrate to New Zealand; and the Tourism Unit which promotes New Zealand as a tourism destination.
