New collection agent for visa applications

VFS Global Services (VFS) has been appointed by Immigration New Zealand (INZ) as a collection agent for visa applications with effect from 12 August in Shanghai and from 17 October 2011 for Beijing, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.

Electronic visas (e-visas) not consistently recognised at Chinese borders

Immigration New Zealand (INZ) grants electronic visas (e-visas) to a wide range of applicants to facilitate efficient visa processing and customer convenience. Customers granted e-visas will receive a letter with the details of the visa instead of a label in their passport.

The Chinese bank loan scheme phased out

Immigration New Zealand's China branches advise that the Chinese bank loan scheme has been phased out and is no longer accepted as evidence of personal funds. In 2010 the Bank of China ceased being a partner in the bank loan scheme, leaving CITIC bank as the sole remaining partner.

INZ and CITIC Bank Loan Agreement terminated

The CITIC Bank Student Visa Bank Loan Agreement has been terminated from all three INZ China-based branches effective from 16 February 2011. Any student visa applied for after this date will be accepted for assessment but separate financial evidence will be requested by INZ.

New Zealand’s Immigration Advisers Licensing Act aims to protect migrants by licensing people who provide New Zealand immigration advice, both within New Zealand and offshore. Offshore people who are licensed by the Immigration Advisers Authority, the organisation responsible for managing New Zealand immigration adviser licensing, will be able to show the global marketplace that they meet New Zealand Government quality standards.
