Customs clearance for visa applications

Monday, 19 July 2010

Please note that The New Zealand Embassy in Bangkok is not able to facilitate customs clearance for documents sent to this office.

Recently some applicants have had their documents impounded by the Thai Customs office. The Thai Customs office is a Thai government agency and Immigration New Zealand has no influence over its actions or decisions.

Thai Customs may impound your documents if:

  • You are not clearly listed as the contact person for the delivery. Thai Customs will not accept “Immigration New Zealand” as the contact for your documents.
  • You state a high monetary value for your documents.

If your documents are impounded by the Thai Customs department, it is your responsibility to secure their release. If payment is required Immigration New Zealand is not able to make that payment on your behalf.

If you have any questions in regard to impounded documents please contact Immigration New Zealand, Bangkok Branch. Please do not contact the New Zealand Embassy in Bangkok.
